Privacy Policy

Last updated: 09 October 2026

Daybreak Adventures (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through daybreakadventures.com, why we collect it, and your rights under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

1. Who we are

Daybreak Adventures is operated by JDC, a sole proprietor based in Cape Town, South Africa. We are the responsible party for your personal information, and JDC is our Information Officer. You can contact us at info@daybreaktours.com

2. What we do

We publish guides to adventure travel in South Africa and recommend tours offered by partner booking platforms such as GetYourGuide and Viator. We do not sell tours or take payments ourselves. When you book, you do so on the partner’s website, and the partner collects and handles your booking and payment details under its own privacy policy.

3. Information we collect

  • When you contact us: your name, email address and anything you include in your message.
  • When you join our newsletter: your email address and, if you provide it, your first name.
  • When you use our trip planner: the questions and details you type in. Please don’t share sensitive information such as ID numbers, health details or payment information in the planner.
  • Automatically, when you browse: technical information such as your device type, browser, approximate location (country or city), pages visited and how you arrived at our site. We collect this through cookies and analytics tools.

4. Why we use your information

  • To reply to your messages and enquiries
  • To send you our newsletter, if you have asked for it
  • To provide trip-planning suggestions through our planner
  • To understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it
  • To keep the site secure and working properly

We process your information with your consent, to respond to your requests, or where we have a legitimate interest in running and improving the site.

5. Cookies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use:

  • Essential cookies that make the site work
  • Analytics cookies (for example, Google Analytics) that tell us how the site is used
  • Affiliate cookies: when you click a “Book now” or partner link, the partner (such as GetYourGuide or Viator) places a cookie so it can recognise that you came from our site. This lets us earn a commission and does not change the price you pay.

You can accept or decline non-essential cookies in our cookie banner, and you can delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.

6. Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the site, including:

  • our website hosting provider
  • our email and newsletter provider
  • our analytics provider (Google)
  • the AI service that powers our trip planner
  • affiliate partners, only when you click through to their websites

Some of these providers store information outside South Africa. Where that happens, we use reputable providers with appropriate data-protection safeguards, as POPIA requires.

7. How long we keep it

We keep messages for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry, and newsletter details until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is kept in summary form and deleted on a regular schedule set by our analytics provider.

8. How we protect it

We use secure (HTTPS) connections, strong passwords with two-factor authentication on our accounts, and reputable service providers. No website is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

9. Your rights

Under POPIA you may:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you
  • ask us to correct or delete it
  • object to how we use it
  • withdraw your consent at any time (for example, by unsubscribing from our newsletter)

To do any of these, email info@daybreaktours.com. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za).

10. Children

This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it was last changed.
